Claire Danes experienced a breakdown during one of her pregnancies.
The My So-Called Life alum recalled how she “totally” freaked out when she learned she was pregnant at age 44 with her and husband Hugh Dancy’s third child, a daughter named Shay born in 2023.
“I called my OBGYN in convulsive tears,” Claire told Amy Poehler on the Jan. 27 episode of the Saturday Night Live alum’s Good Hang podcast. “It was a pure—it was all meltdown.”
“None of this was by design,” the now-46-year-old continued. “I didn’t know it was physically possible. I was 44.”
Indeed, Claire—also mom to sons Cyrus, 13, and Rowan, 7, with Hugh—noted that naturally conceiving in her 40s was “so unlikely.”
“Actually, Rowan was very hard-earned,” she explained. “I had to do two rounds of IVF.”
Beyond the tears, the Homeland actress had previously detailed the range of emotions she experienced upon learning she was pregnant with Shay.
