Two years later, she made her Grammys performing debut at the 2024 ceremony, where she bought the house down with a star-studded showing of “Both Sides Now.”
But her show-stopping performances in recent years have been the product of her focusing on her recovery following her health scare. As she admitted to Cameron Crowe in a conversation for The Guardian in 2020, “Just inching my way along. I’m showing slow improvement but moving forward.”

“Polio didn’t grab me like that, but the aneurysm took away a lot more, really,” she continued. “Took away my speech and my ability to walk. And, you know, I got my speech back quickly, but the walking I’m still struggling with. But I mean, I’m a fighter. I’ve got Irish blood! You know, I knew, ‘Here I go again, another battle.’”
