Will a new chapter of EGOT history be made at the 2026 Grammy Awards?
With the Trevor Noah-hosted ceremony set to air from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles Feb. 1, you may be curious if any of the nominees will move into the hallowed halls of EGOT status, meaning they have won at least one competitive award from each of the major entertainment branches: an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony.
To date, 27 celebrities have achieved the status—coined by actor Philip Michael Thomas in 1984—with the most recent additions being Elton John and composers Benj Pasek and JustinPaul, who were all minted after winning Emmys in 2024.
Other names that received their own coveted EGOTs include John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Viola Davis and composer Robert Lopez—the only person to have EGOTed twice (meaning he has two of each trophy).
There are also those who have achieved the status through non-competitive wins, including Barbra Streisand—who earned a special Tony in 1970—and the late James Earl Jones—who was recognized with an honorary Academy Awards in 2011.
