Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi went to extreme heights to commit to their character’s love story.
In fact, the Wuthering Heights costars had writer-director Emerald Fennell to thank to ensure their chemistry was as strong off camera as it was in front of the lens.
“At the studio, we both had a dressing room,” Margot, 35, explained during her joint interview with Jacob on Today Jan. 30. “Emerald went into our dressing rooms and made a shrine of each other in our dressing rooms.”
Describing the filmmaker’s move as “so unhinged and so hilarious,” the Barbie star added, “She put, like, locks of hair and pictures of us, candles and made a full shrine… Mine was a Jacob shrine. He had a Margot shrine. It was so funny.”
Jacob, 27, was equally amused by his director’s stunt, calling it “funny” and “fantastic.”
Jokes aside, the dressing room shrines paid off for Margot and Jacob—who play lovers Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff in the Emily Brontë adaptation—as it inspired them to match that same level of intensity on camera.
