Paul Dano is grateful for a little bit of sunshine.
Nearly two months after director Quentin Tarantino called him “the weakest f–king actor in SAG,” Paul attended the Sundance Film Festival to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Little Miss Sunshine alongside his costar Toni Collette, and the pair weighed in with their thoughts on the director’s criticism.
“Are we really going there?” Toni said to Variety Jan. 28. “F–k that guy! He must’ve been high… it was just confusing. Who does that?”
Paul then reacted to the support he received from Toni, as well as stars from across Hollywood.
“That was really nice,” the 41-year-old responded. “I was also incredibly grateful that the world spoke up for me so I didn’t have to.”
Indeed, after Quentin referred to Paul’s performance in the 2007 movie There Will Be Blood as a “giant flaw” and “weak sauce” on the Dec. 2 episode of The Bret Easton Ellis podcast, per Deadline, celebs like Reese Witherspoon and Ben Stiller came to his defense.
