Rima Horton, Alan Rickman’s Widow, on His Cancer Battle, Death

Rima Horton is looking back at a devastating chapter in her life.

A decade after Alan Rickman died following a battle with pancreatic cancer at age 69, his widow reflected on the anniversary of his passing.

“He had so much more to give. There were so many more things he could have done,” Rima shared on the Jan. 27 episode of BBC Breakfast, per The Daily Mail. She added that Alan lived for six months after his diagnosis due to chemotherapy, which she said, “extended his life a bit, but it didn’t cure it.”

The 78-year-old—who tied the knot with the Harry Potter actor in 2012 after nearly 40 years together—has since become a passionate advocate for pancreatic cancer. Now, she is raffling a set of seven Harry Potter books signed by 12 of his costars, including Rupert Grint, Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes.

Indeed, it was the perfect item for the cause, according to the Kingston University professor emerita, who became a trustee for Pancreatic Cancer UK in 2021.
