NASCAR Driver Greg Biffle and Wife Cristina’s Families Speak Out on Deadly Plane Crash
The Italian sports world is mourning the loss of one of their own.
One day after the devastating fire at the Le Constellation bar in the Crans-Montana ski resort in Switzerland, Italian golf officials confirmed golfer Emanuele Galeppini was among the 40 people who were killed in the tragedy. He was 17.
“The Italian Golf Federation mourns the passing of Emanuele Galeppini, a young athlete who embodied passion and authentic values,” a statement shared by the Italian Golf Federation on Instagram Jan. 1 read. “In this time of great sorrow, our thoughts are with his family and all those who loved him.”
The statement continued, “Emanuele, you will forever remain in our hearts.”
The fire inside the Le Constellation bar—a popular hotspot for young adults, teens and tourists—began, according to Swiss authorities as reported by NBC News around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, leaving 40 people dead and around 115 others injured.
